Bulk Encoding

Transcode thousands of videos in parallel without managing infrastructure.

Overview

What It Is

Bulk encoding lets you submit hundreds or thousands of video transcoding jobs simultaneously and process them in parallel across Qencode's distributed infrastructure. Instead of building and maintaining your own queue systems or provisioning VMs, you send a batch request and let Qencode handle the compute scaling, resource allocation, and monitoring.

Process

How It Works

  1. Select multiple files

Add source videos by entering URLs manually, uploading a CSV or TXT file with one URL per row, or uploading files from your computer.
  2. Configure transcoding settings

Choose destination, formats, codecs, resolutions, and other output settings, or apply a saved template to the whole batch.
  3. Set unique output paths

Enter a separate output path and filename for each source file to prevent transcoded outputs from overwriting each other.
  4. Launch the batch

Click Launch Transcoding to start the bulk encoding workflow.
  5. Parallel processing

Your videos are launched as separate transcoding jobs and processed simultaneously through Qencode.
  6. Monitor job progress

Track each file in the Transcoding Jobs window as its status changes from uploading to transcoding started.
  7. Retrieve outputs

Review each completed file in Job History and access the transcoded outputs from the configured destination.

Use Cases

Who Uses Bulk Encoding

VOD Platforms

Scenario

A Netflix-style platform needs to ingest a new 500-video content drop. Manual encoding would take days and require spinning up hundreds of encoding instances.

Bulk encoding processes all 500 videos in hours, reducing time-to-market by 80% and avoiding infrastructure overhead of $50,000+ per week.

UGC Platforms

Scenario

A user-generated content platform receives 10,000 uploads daily in mixed formats and resolutions. Each needs HLS and DASH variants for playback compatibility.

Automatic parallel processing handles the entire daily volume without queue backlog, keeping platform latency under 2 hours from upload to playable.

Enterprise

Scenario

A corporate media hub ingests training videos, town halls, and announcements across multiple departments. Each requires compliance transcoding to specific bitrate and codec standards.

Bulk encoding ensures all content meets security and accessibility standards within SLA, with audit logs for every transcoded video.
